Knight Removal Moving and Packing Tips

7 TIPS YOU MAY FIND HELPFUL FOR MOVING HOUSE

Moving house is a process that many people do not look forward to and forward planning makes for a better moving day all round. Good packing is essential for damage free possessions so here are our top 7 tips.

1. START PACKING AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE

Unhurried packing is always best, leave plenty of time and do a little each day.

2. GET PLENTY OF GOOD QUALITY PACKING MATERIAL

Knight Removals only supply the best materials including good strong double walled boxes. If you are moving yourself and you know anyone who has moved recently ask if they have any boxes, failing that a local removal company or online will be your best bet.

3. FIRST PACK THE ITEMS THAT YOU USE THE LEAST.

Don’t pack your toothbrush just yet, First pack seasonal items your not likely to want such as the Christmas lights and coats and hats. (yes its raining today I know!), the attic is always a good place to start.

4. PACK ONE ROOM AT A TIME.

Doing this will help you stay organised.

5. LABEL ALL YOUR BOXES.

Write the contents of each box clearly with a marker, use a different colour marker for each room and write on the side and not on top. This will enable you to recognise each box even when they are stacked.

6. DO NOT OVERFILL BOXES OR MAKE THEM TOO HEAVY.

Removal porters are used to heavy boxes but you may need to move them about once they are packed. If you have heavy items such as books etc fill the boxes only halfway and pack the rest with lighter material such as blankets or cushions. It can also stop boxes splitting or falling apart and can save a lot of pain (Literally)

7. MOVING HOUSE IS A GREAT TIME FOR A CLEAR OUT.

Be ruthless, get rid of the items you never use, sell them, give them to a charity shop or take them to the dump we all have stuff we never use. Remember the rule about clothes: If you haven’t worn it for all four seasons you probably never will again. The less junk you have will also help you when trying to get organised in you new abode.
